CD, Baby, and Life catch up…

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

So there has been simply so much going on that I don’t even know where to start.  So I will try to be chronological and hope that helps.

First: I wrapped up the CD artwork, mastering and duplication and got the final product in my hand 24 hours before the CD Release show.  I can’t even tell you how stressed I was that they wouldn’t show.  I was calling UPS, and Disc Makers… It was crazy.  But in the end they showed up as planned, I even gave one to the UPS guy I was so happy that they showed up in time. The next 24 hours were super busy.  Picking up gear for the show, co-coordinating everything that went into the show.  People had to know what time to show up and help, the band had to know what to do…

After picking up the gear from Carlson Audio in Seattle, I cruised up and started getting setup for the show.  I have to thank a couple people for their help.  First several poeple helped with the Stage,  My parents, Trey, and Candy Sherrill, My brother Jeremy, My grandpa Roy Jr., and my inlaws Gayle and Gerry.  Thank you for helping with that.  Next the Band for getting there early, running errands (John) and being 100% professional the whole time.  Kyle Stevens for opening the night and doing a great job, Ann Kenney from Delille for working so hard to help this event go off without a hitch at one of the most fabulous venues in the area. Last but not least my wife for putting up with all the grief involved in pulling off and event with 150 people.  To all the friends, family and fans who came out.  Thank you all.

The show went off without a hitch.  Jared Hankins did a great job on the sound, making things sound quality.  Kyle opened things up introducing everyone to Naked Wii and other great songs.  Kyle and I then played our song Mexican Jail, in single mic duet style.  It was tons of fun to get in there and get to it.  And finally I got to jump up on the stage with the band and rock.  I haven’t played with a band in a long time and it was something I really missed.  The sound was great, the guys were on track and things felt really good.  Towards the end I had Tabitha Smoot come up and we sang the duet “Take it Easy” that we wrote for the record.  IT was a great night that was worth all the work to make it happen.

Roy Litton Sherrill VFollowing the show I had about 2 weeks, and then on March 5th, Roy Litton Sherrill V decided he had had enough of being in Jess’s tummy and wanted to make an appearance.  Jess powered through 17 hours of labor, and two failed epidurals to deliver Litton at 11pm on March 5th.  Litton was born 6lbs 12oz, and 19″ long.  He is a great baby, and he looks like me.  At least that’s what everyone says.   Here is one of my fav pics.  He’s amazing and learning and growing so fast.  Its crazy times.

So after all this, whats up… The summer wine season is on its way, there will be more band shows, there is a new CD to sell…  Trying to move as many cd’s as I can this year.  Want to help?  Help sell cd’s at a show, or promote for me.  I am looking for people to help all over the place.    Let me know if your interested.

Updates, Updates, Updates

If you did not know, Jessica, my wife is pregnant.  She is due in about 1 month so we are really close.  She and I are super exited.

Its been awhile since I posted and alot has happened.  I have finally gotten the CD Mastered, the artwork completed, and both of those sent off to DiscMakers.  They are a company that does CD duplication.  So while the CD has been out, getting copied, I have been working hard to promote the CD release show.

I am really exited to announce the new band, Curtis (you know), John Luzzi on electrics, Frank Metting on Keys, and Ian Sheridan on Bass.  I think you are going to be pretty exited about the sound.  This is the most talented group of guys I have ever gotten to play with.  Each of them is a pro and delivers 100%.

As I was thinking about it, I wanted to thank you, my friends and fans, for coming out to Willows, Vino, Wineries, and other shows over the past 3 years.  It has been a crazy ride that I enjoy so much.  Its all made possible by you.  So THANK YOU!!!

There are also a couple of people that I wanted to thank.  They also have thanks on the CD but the following people have made this CD and my musical journey possible.  Curtis Ryker, always on time, with great gear, and a great attitude.   I can’t say enough about Curtis.  Bryce Francis, who took an chance on a singer-songwriter that wasn’t sure what he was doing.  Bryce learned the parts for the last CD release show in about a month and played live with us at that show.  He followed that performance up by stepping in and playing most of the shows since.  From great wine gigs to empty spots that we weren’t sure we should even be playing.  Bryce is also a great friend.

Dan Purser and Kyle Stevens.  For being my friend, for offering advice when I needed it and help if that is what it took.

Tabitha Smoot, David Larring and Matt Erickson for helping me record this CD.  They worked for almost nothing and delivered a product that is better than my wildest expectations.

And finally my wife…. She believed in this before I did.  Whats to say, she’s the best.

Thanks again to my family, friends and fans.  You have made this possible.  Come out to the CD release show.  It would be my pleasure to have you there.
